It would seem that John Tertius was so named because he was the third child baptized 'John' after both John b1857 John Thomas b1859 died as babies. (I'm guessing that John Thomas's parents were John & Jane).

It seems more than co-incidental that JT became a chemist after his sister Julia married one (Ambrose Hartill).

John married Mary Elizabeth Beddard, daughter of John Beddard and Elizabeth Brecknell, on 12 Sep 1892 in Kidderminster. (Mary Elizabeth Beddard was born in 1861 in Dudley.)
