There are no birth, baptism or burial records for this Mary
The suggestion that she did exist comes from an altered census return from 1851:
1851: Halletts Row, W'ton. Ann Egginton 35 wid Laundress, Mary 11 (initially recorded as 'son' and with age in 'male' column then later changed to 'dau' & 'female' column in a different hand), Joseph 9 (George 11, two doors away with Ann's parents and br)
I suspect that the transcriber had misread the enumerator's 'Henry' as 'Mary' - realising the gender columns didn't match, made the wrong change.
Not mentioned in grandfather's Will dated 1860 although the other two children were.
There are a number of bozos on Ancestry who seem to think that this imaginary person married James Swain but one glance at his marriage records shows that his wife was Mary Ann, the daughter of Isaac Egginton.
