Notes
Research:
Graham Kennison shares: "My grandfather, William, was the last miller at Harlaston Mill. There had been a mill in the village since at least the time of Doomsday, so he ended a 1000 year history of milling. At the end he was producing animal feed rather than milling flour for human consumption.

He was also a butcher when he was in Wolverhampton and also ran a farm beside the mill. My mother told me that he was well know for the quality of his Large White pigs, a Harlaston speciality and also for his Gloucester Old Spots. He also had a small herd of TT tested cows which earned him a premium price for his milk.

Unfortunately, once firms such as Spillers began to make formula cattle food, and as the cost of road transport to get it to the farms fell, to mill ceased to make money and the farm alone was too small in the 1930s recession to make enough to keep the family."
