*Eliza gives her father's name on her next marriage is 'Bancroft' so 'Mangrove' is probably a mis-transciption - no Mangroves found although there are Morgroves about.

I am a fairly recent subscriber to this list and hope I am submitting the following in the proper format. My great-grandfather was a MEALING and the information below I took from the OPR's at the main LDS Library, Salt Lake City, Utah.
Thomas MEALING and Ann BIGGS (both of Yate) were married 6 April 1802 (1803)
They had the following children:
1. John baptised in Iron Acton Sept. 1803
2. Moses baptised in Iron Acton 15 Apr. 1805
3. William baptised in Yate Nov. 1807. (This film almost impossible to read but this is about what he has stated on U.S. Census returns.)
4. Elizabeth baptised in Yate Dec. 1807 (did not find a death)
5. James baptised Iron Acton 18 June 1809
6. Nathaniel baptised Iron Acton 29 Aug. 1813 {'51: in Trevethin}
7. Elizabeth baptised Iron Acton 15 Oct. 1815
8. Thomas baptised Iron Acton 11 Jan. 1818 (This was the father of my paternal grandmother)
9. Mary baptised Iron Acton 12 Nov. 1820; died 18 Aug. 1822
10. Mercy baptised Iron Acton 17 Nov. 1822
11. Jane baptised Iron Acton 5 Nov. 1824

#3 - William, above, married Ellen GUEST(. 1/17/1808) on 2/7/1829 and had the following children before coming to America: Mary Ann b. 3/6/1831 and Charlotte b. 8/11/1833.
#5 - James, above, married Ann STOCKDEN 11 Sept. 1831 and had James 11/27/1831.
#6 - Nathaniel, above, came to America and married there.
#7 - Elizabeth, above, married Isaac REEVES 30 Aug. 1835.
#8 - Thomas, above, married an Elizabeth ?. I don't know if they were married before coming to America or if they met and married in America. Their first child, Mary Ann, was born 6 Jan. 1847 in Pennsylvania. They had three more children and then Elizabeth died in April 1854. Thomas then married my great-grandmother, Esther Ridley Mitchell, a widow with four little girls.
#9 - Jane, above. I have an old picture from a studio in London and on the back is written "This is my sister Jane's daughter - her name is Susan Ann CLINE". I have searched the St. Cath. Indexes for a child of that name in what seemed to be an appropriate time frame to no avail.
On the 1841 Census for Iron Acton, living on Acton Lane, I have:
MEALING, Ann 60 widow born Co.; Nathaniel 25 lab. "; Mary 20 "; James 16 " Is this a grandson?
On the 1851 Census for Iron Acton, living at #17 Coal Pit Lane, I have:
MEALING, Ann 73 widow born Yate; Mercy 26 single " Iron Acton (works on the land)
I believe the parents of the original Thomas above to be John MEALING and Mary GRIFFIN who were married in Old Sodbury 23 May 1772. Thomas was their 5th child born 29 Jan. 1783 in Rangeworthy. I also show a Thomas who died 12/14/1834 in Iron Acton at age 53 - which would be within a year.
If anyone has any information on this Mealing family or descendants; families from the marriages of any of the Mealings; any who might be researching the name also, I should be VERY pleased to hear from you. I shall be more than happy to share the information I have on the three brothers (William, Nathaniel and Thomas) who emigrated to Pennsylvania. It would be especially exciting to hear from any living relatives.
