The key point to remember in what follows this is that Ann is the grand-daughter of Thomas & Elizabeth Brough.
If the baptismal record above is indeed that of 'our' Ann and Margaret is Thomas & Elizabeth's daughter (as opposed to a daughter-in-law) then Ann must be base-born and the 'Thomas' given as her father on her marriage record is not 'Thomas Brough b1825, son of Thomas & Elizabeth'..
It is possible, that a Margaret did marry Thomas Brough b1825 - but it's unlikely, given his age when Ann was born and that he married Eliza Holford in 1849. A d-i-l Margaret would have had to die before 1849 then and no record of a such a death has been found.
A Margaret Brough of Gnosall married Thomas Hall in 1849 and the couple are found in Calf Heath census of 1851 with their dau Elizabeth b1850. A year later, Margaret Hall died of liver disease and Thomas remarries a few months later. Thomas Hall was only 17 when Ann was born and a wheelwright in 1868 when Ann was married, not a 'labourer' as her father was described in her marriage record at St Peter's, so there is still some doubt about the identity of 'Thomas', her father.
