After Mary died, did Henry marry Fanny & have dau Sarah Ellen b:Dec 1877 or was Fanny, Ann Careless, his niece? In '81 she appears to reside in the same cottage as Henry & Mary in '71 doing the same job.

An alternative record give the marr date as: 3 Jun 1849 but no fathers' names are given. Record

This is a little perplexing - it suggests that Mary was a 'spinster' and that her father was William Jeavons - yet she appears to have children by a 'John Jeavons '.

There are several possible explanations for this, including: John & Mary were: cousins; not related at all but still with the same surname; brother & sister - with John being the father and his wife having died (although she should still have been alive for the '41 census) and finally that the scribe made a mistake about Mary's father.

No record of this marriage has yet been found.

The relationship proposed is based purely on the fact that in 1881 we find an Ann Careless b1848 living in the same property that the late Henry Careless (& wife Mary) occupied in 1871 and that she had with her a daughter, Sarah Ellen b1877, whose marriage certificate states that her father was Henry Careless.
