Notes
General:

The first few years of George's life are a bit of a mystery in that there are a couple of pieces of information that might or might not relate to him but contradict each other.

First, we have an IGI record which suggests that George was born before the 1841 census:

bap:George Bishton b:29 Jan 1841 bap:14 Feb 1842 Worfield f:John Bishton m:Sarah IGI
He's not recorded as being with his parents for the '41 census but we do have this:
1841: Worfield Valentine Bishton 50 Aglab, Pheabe 50, (gs) Geo Edwd 1 (not b in county). Son John 25 & his wife Sarah nearby.
The ' not born in county' bit is echoed in the next census:
1851: Worfield. Valentine Bishton 68, Pheobe 69, gs George 11 b:Warks, Birmingham (maybe)

One problem with the above is that there are no records of births for this name in Warwickshire between 1838 and 1844.

However, we do have this:

b:George Bishton Jan-Feb-Mar 1842 Bridgenorth 18 32

Another George is recorded in '51 - so perhaps the IGI record is wrong and John & Sarah's son was born in Jan 1842 and the George living with his grandfather Valentine is a different person altogether but I suspect other reasons are at play.

British History re: Dawley
The beginning of large-scale mining coincided with the construction of iron furnaces at Horsehay in 1754 and Lightmoor in 1758 and the rise of industrial partnerships that integrated the extraction of coal, ironstone, and clay with the manufacture of iron, bricks, and tiles. Industrial activity in the late 18th and early 19th century was closely related to the pattern of landownership, mineral rights in the three manors being acquired by separate companies. In Great Dawley, after Hartshorne's lease had expired, the mines under Slaney's estate were leased in 1754 for 21 years to Abraham Darby (II). (fn. 80) By extending that lease (fn. 81) and by purchase (fn. 82) the Coalbrookdale Co. retained control over most minerals in Great Dawley throughout the late 18th and 19th century. A separate small royalty in the north-east corner of Great Dawley was acquired in 1826 by the Langley Field Co., in which George Bishton of Neachley and Adam Wright, the Pool Hill ironmaster, were partners. (fn. 83) The collieries, ironworks, and brick yards established there by Bishton and Wright were bought by Beriah Botfield in 1856. (fn. 84)

This presents a problem: "Promise to pay Thomas Moss Phillips £700 and interest, by the Langley Company, George, Thomas and John Bishton. 1781/2/228 24 November 1832" by 1832 neither John (father or son) was alive - or is there another one?

------------------------------------------------------------------------
George married Elizabeth Cheadle 14 December 1840. By deed poll of George 17 Dec. 1840 he appointed that after his death the houses, mill, farm and lands devised by John should remain to the use of Elizabeth for her life; George and Elizabeth had no issue, and George died in November 1845 leaving Elizabeth.

A George was in jail for debt during 1846 - couldn't be this one, so who was it? Maybe the one in 1851 at Dawley
