It is interesting to note that John had two sons baptized 'Samuel'. This one died in the April of 1845 and his father then named his next son, born to his second wife Frances, a few months later, with the same name.

1832: An Order of Filiation was made declaring Samuel (a Potter) to be the father of Mary Currin's child born on 16 Aug 1832 (ie John Currin).
Samuel was ordered to pay the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the parish of Higham-on-the-Hill:
One Shilling and Sixpence per week for the sustenation and maintenace of the child;
Eleven Shillings for expenses incient to the birth of the child;
Two Shillings and Sixpence for the reasonable cost of his apprehension and securing;
Six Shillings for the cost of the Order.
Mary Currin was ordered to pay Nine pence per week in case she should not nurse and take care of the child herself.
